Ole Miss went crazy after the Rebels baseball team won in the College World Series (Video)

While much of the sports world is focused on the World Cup this week, one of the more underrated events in all of sports – the College World Series – is taking place in Omaha, Neb.

On Tuesday, Ole Miss squared off against Texas Tech in an elimination game in the CWS, and the Rebels’ football team was watching intently in the team locker room. After surrendering the tying run to the Red Raiders in the top of the ninth, the Rebels responded in the bottom of the ninth with a pinch hit walk-off single from fifth-year senior John Gatlin.

As the winning run scored, the football team exploded.

After battling back from 0-2 hole, Gatlin – just a .103 hitter -- slapped a tough breaking ball to the opposite field for a single to keep the Rebels’ championship hopes alive with a 2-1 win.

The Rebels play again Thursday in another elimination game – this time against TCU.
