Ken Niumatalolo's agent doesn't expect immediate BYU decision

Ken Niumatalolo's agent doesn't expect his client to make a hurried decision about whether or not to take the head coaching position at BYU if it's offered to him.

The Navy coach met with the Cougars on Monday. He's considered BYU's top candidate for its coaching search to replace Bronco Mendenhall, who left to take the head coaching job at Virginia. He traveled to Utah to meet with BYU officials.

From the Washington Post:

“I suspect it will be a few days, but we shall see,” Niumatalolo’s agent, Evan Beard, said when reached by telephone. “It could happen in the next 10 minutes, but look, he’s not going to make a hurried decision.”

Niumatalolo, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, fits the criteria BYU dicates for head coaches. He's been with Navy for the past eight-plus seasons and with a win over Army on Saturday, has never lost the rivalry game in his Navy career. He's 67-37 as the team's head coach and Navy is 10-2 in 2015.

He said after the game, a 21-17 win, that he was conflicted about whether or not he should go take the job at BYU. He said his heart was leaning to leave while his head was telling him to stay. Navy is a member of the American Athletic Conference while BYU is currently an independent member of FBS.

The Midshipmen play in the Military Bowl on Dec. 28. BYU plays Utah on Saturday in the Las Vegas Bowl.
