Griffith had been hospitalized since March 17 after he had been caught in a rip current at Siesta Beach in Florida and nearly drowned.
His friend, Mitch McCune, said the two were pulled out past the buoys and that he grabbed Griffith and pulled him to shore. McCune performed CPR until emergency crews arrived.
Griffith was initially placed in a medically induced coma and on a ventilator to help his lungs heal.
Thankful for everyone who lifted our son up in their prayers, the hospital staff, and Sarasota for helping two strangers in need.
