Georgia Southern breaks out the camo uniforms for Military Appreciation Day

Georgia Southern, an FCS school, is trying to earn respect as it works through its provisional period to become an FBS program and what better way to do that than to introduce some sweet military-themed uniforms.

Nike made dark blue digital camouflage uniforms for the Eagles' Oct. 13 game against Wofford on Military Appreciation Day and these uniforms are by far some of the sweetest camo uniforms we've seen to date.

It's the first time Georgia Southern will wear a uniform that is not their tradition blue and white.

The jerseys worn by the Eagles for the 2012 Military Appreciation Day will all have "Always Ready, Always There" on the backs, customized with each player's name embroidered on the front nameplate. Players have the option of wearing specific patches to represent any family members or friends who have served or are currently serving in the military. More than 100 different patches for various battalions, commands, units, ships, squadrons and submarines will be worn on October 13th.

Georgia Southern will wear its normal dark blue helmets, but they will be adorned with a red stripe, which represents the sacrifices for freedom. The helmets also will have yellow stripes on either side of the red one and gray numbers outlined with red and yellow.
