Arizona State QB Taylor Kelly spends his offseason drag racing (Video)
College football players get a very short offseason so they usually want to make the most of it by doing charity work, hanging with friends and drag racing.
Yes, drag racing.
That’s how Arizona State quarterback Taylor Kelly enjoys his off time with his family in Eagle, Idaho, according to Pac-12.com, which caught up with the family during their races. Kelly, his stepfather and stepfather have a small fleet of supped up cars and race and navigate obstacle courses for fun.
While any sort of high-speed racing has an element of danger to it, I’m not sure this is up there with Tod crashing his brother’s car in the movie Parenthood. Kelly and his family are racing modified Acura’s and BMW’s. All of them are red and all have a Sun Devil logo with the No. 10 on the side. The drivers wear harnesses and helmets, but as far as we could tell, Kelly wasn’t sporting a flame-retardant suit.
Still, this is a risky offseason activity, one we hope coach Todd Graham knew about before watching it on the Pac-12’s website. Not sure how many coaches would want their starting quarterback drag racing in the offseason, but I bet it’s better than him doing something that would require abuse to his hands or arms, like working on a farm or extreme miming.
