Alabama running back Kenyan Drake arrested

Alabama running back Kenyan Drake was arrested early Saturday morning and has been charged with a misdemeanor count of “obstructing governmental operations,” according to Al.com.

Tuscaloosa Police spokesman Brent Blankley told Al.com that Drake’s vehicle was parked inside a crime scene. Drake was ordered to stay away from the scene, but he “went through the crime scene tape” and tried to get to his vehicle anyway before being stopped by police.

“He was trying to cross a crime scene,” Blankley said. “We had a shooting and his vehicle was parked inside the crime scene. We told him that he could not get his vehicle and he tried to cross the crime scene anyway so he could get his vehicle. Officers arrested him for obstructing government operations.”

The crime scene was the result of a shooting outside Kennedy’s Bar in Tuscaloosa that occurred at “approximately 12:50 a.m.”

As of Saturday afternoon, Drake was reportedly still being held in police custody. His bond was set at $1,000.

Drake, who will be a junior in 2014, has rushed for 975 yards and 13 touchdowns in his two seasons with the Crimson Tide. He ran for 694 yards and eight touchdowns as the main backup behind T.J. Yeldon last year.

The University has yet to comment on Drake’s arrest.
