Air Force cancels travel to Navy; Army game against Boston College still a go

Air Force announced Tuesday afternoon that it would not travel for any athletic contests, including Saturday’s Commander-in-Chief Trophy game at Navy, due to the government shutdown.

Air Force said it would try to reschedule the contest.

Earlier in the day, Air Force canceled its coach and player press conference and media relations staff home. The Department of Defense issued a statement saying that any athletic contests involving Service Academies would be canceled during the government shutdown. However, at the time, the Air Force-Navy game was still up in the air until a final decision at noon Thursday.

According to Army, its game at Boston College is still on - for now.

"Obviously our intention is to exhaust all possibilities to play the game," Boston College athletic director Brad Bates said.
