2 Boise St. players don't travel to San Diego for rules violations

Boise State players Tanner Vallejo and Dylan Summer-Gardner did not go with the team to San Diego for the Poinsettia Bowl according to coach Bryan Harsin. Harsin said the two did not travel for a violation of team rules.

Summer-Gardner has missed the final two-thirds of the season with a broken ankle. He was a starting safety before his injury and according to the Idaho Daily Statesman, was cited for drug paraphenelia.

According to the citation for drug paraphernalia use or possession with intent to use, Sumner-Gardner was cited during a traffic stop for going 40 miles an hour in a 35-mile-an-hour zone on Broadway in Boise. The stop occurred at 1:32 a.m. Nov. 27, while most of the team was in San Jose to play a game. Sumner-Gardner was injured.

Summer-Gardner was also reportedly supposed to appear in court by the end of last week. He did not and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Vallejo, a linebacker, is Boise State's third-leading tackler. He has 52 tackles and six tackles for loss. He was the defensive MVP in the Broncos' Fiesta Bowl win over Arizona on Dec. 31, 2014. He finished that game with 14 tackles and had 100 tackles in 2014.

He was a three-star recruit and the No. 94 player in the state of California in the class of 2013 according to Rivals.
