Kentucky's Patrick Patterson surprises blogger with freestyle rap

Since so many prospects were made available to the media at the same time during last week's NBA draft combine in Chicago, 76ers blogger Derek Bodner left digital tape recorders at three separate interview stations to maximize his productivity.

Bodner left one of his recorders unguarded at Daniel Orton's table for long enough that the Kentucky big man and ex-teammate Patrick Patterson decided to leave the blogger an unexpected audio surprise.

Check out the above clip that Bodner discovered on his recorder earlier this week of Patterson beatboxing and throwing down a quick freestyle rap. And special thanks to Patterson for bleeping himself midway through his second verse to ensure it remained blog-friendly.

For those who feel the need to point out that "P-Pat" isn't exactly Jay-Z on the mic, I'd like to point out the former Kentucky star isn't the worst rapper among this year's crop of draft hopefuls.

Remember Gordon "G-Time" Hayward's rap from earlier this spring on a track entitled Too Big, Yo? If not, refresh your memory and Patterson's effort will sound better.
