You know the cliche about the student manager: the schlubby, dumpy jock-sniffer who wants to be around basketball players but doesn't have a tenth of their talent. These aren't those guys.
On the eve of the latest Duke-UNC throwdown, both schools' managers, who have plenty of game all their own, staged a showdown that might end up being better than a real game. It came down to a last-second heave, and — sorry, Duke haters — the Blue Devil managers won on a buzzer-beating bucket.
Fans in attendance rushed the court (there are fans for a managers' game?), but they weren't alone: even Duke's players enjoyed the festivities. As you can see below, Josh Hairston, Tyler Thornton, Rasheed Sulaimon, Alex Murphy and Quin Cook enjoyed the spotlight on someone else:
We can only hope the Duke-UNC game is this good.
