PFT Live: NFL refs, league office will communicate during replay reviews

In hopes of making replay reviews more efficient, the NFL has passed a new rule that will allow officials to communicate with the league office during replay reviews. More specifically, referees will be able to speak with head of officiating Dean Blandino at the command center in New York, who will help in reviewing the play in question.

Mike Florio explains that he expected this rule change all along to help expedite the replay process, though it doesn’t guarantee all calls will consistently be made correct, but it is a step toward making replay reviews more accurate.
