Mad Dash: Pitcher becomes first openly gay active baseball player

Sean Conroy made baseball history on Thursday night, and while it wasn't under the glittering lights of Major League Baseball, the achievement was still major in its significance. Conroy became the first openly gay active baseball player when he took the mound for the independent league Sonoma Stompers. Major League Baseball historian John Thorn recognized the feat as official, despite it not occurring in the big leagues, and Conroy took it a step further by twirling a gem, striking out 11 in a 7-0 win on Pride Night at the ballpark. This is where we say something about announcing your presence with authority. Congratulations to Conroy.

If you've ever wanted to party with Rob Gronkowski, today is your lucky day. The New England Patriots tight end will be hosting a party cruise from Miami to the Bahamas next February and you and your friends are all invited for the low, low price of $700. Bring your finest muscle shirts and dancing shoes.

Hazing, in general, is pretty stupid and often crosses the line of human decency. But we have to hand it to the Los Angeles Dodgers for continuing the ritual in a fun and relatively harmless way. The Dodgers veterans sent rookies Joc Pederson, Adam Liberatore, and Mike Bolsinger on a pregame coffee run to the Starbucks across from Wrigley Field. The catch: They had to go in full uniform. The pictures and video from the day are great, and it had to be a blast for fans to see.
