Jason Day healthy, ready to contend again at U.S. Open

Admitted that in trying to return quickly for Masters, he might have impaired injury

PINEHURST, N.C. – Since injuring his thumb during his WGC-Match Play Championship victory four months ago, Jason Day has made only two starts.

But he insists he’s fully healed and ready for this week’s U.S. Open.

“I'm 100 percent healthy,” he said Tuesday. “I just want to get that out there. There's no issues with the thumb. There's no issues with any other part of my body that have been an issue in the past. Definitely looking forward to playing this week. I feel good about my game.”

Day admitted that in trying to return quickly for the Masters, he might have impaired the thumb’s healing process.
