While the Ravens were still alive in the playoffs, offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak had no interest in interviewing for head-coaching jobs. Now that the Ravens have been eliminated, Kubiak has no interest in interviewing for head-coaching jobs.
“It is flattering and humbling to be invited to interview for a number of NFL head coaching positions, and I greatly appreciate these opportunities,” Kubiak said in a statement released by the Ravens. “But I have decided to stay with the Ravens.
“This is a special organization and we, like Coach [John] Harbaugh says, are building something great. I want to be a part of that and contribute in whatever ways I can.”
A cynic (I don’t know any . . . unless they’re all lying) would say that Kubiak already has determined that strong interest in his services does not presently exist among any of the teams with vacancies. Either way, Kubiak will be back with Baltimore in 2015, which is very good news for a team that had to replace offensive coordinator Jim Caldwell a year ago, when he became head coach of the Lions.
Kubiak coached the Texans from 2006 through 2013, taking them to the playoffs in 2011 and 2012.
