Bob Costas weighs in on the compensation of student athletes

NBC's commentator poses the question: 'Is it possible to be a student athlete anymore?'

In the wake of the NCAA's ruling on unlimited meals for college athletes, Bob Costas joined The Dan Patrick Show to talk about one of the most polarizing issues in all of sports -- the compensation of student athletes. While Costas thinks that direct payment would be a slippery slope, he does endorse the idea of a stipend or the allowance of athletes to participate in sponsorships and commercials. He also questions what essentially amount to the working conditions of athletes as employees of their respective schools, posing the question: "How many hours do we have to practice? What are the rigors of travel? Is it really possible to be a true student athlete under these circumstances."
