Video: Derrick Rose, Leo Messi and Katy Perry love adidas
Bulls point guard Derrick Rose(notes) and FC Barcelona wunderkind Leo Messi are both very young, very talented athletes who could conceivably be among the best players -- or, in Messi's case, the best player period -- in their respective sports for the foreseeable future. As such, they are featured prominently in this new spot for adidas, featured above.
Katy Perry is, as well, presumably because the company thinks she is going to take over music to become pop queen over current princesses such as Ke$ha, Lady Gaga and Rebecca Black. Except Mrs. Russell Brand appears to be hugging backup dancers in this ad instead of performing, which makes me think the company just wanted her involved for the sex appeal.
Whatever the case, enjoy this spot for its craft, if not its logic. If you want to argue that your brand represents today's youth, there are worse ways to do it.
