Report: Security guards stabbed at Pocono Sunday morning

Two security guards were stabbed early Sunday morning at Pocono Raceway by a man who jumped out of a van, according to a report from a Scranton television station.

The security guards didn't suffer life-threatening injuries.

From WNEP:

According to Pocono Mountain Regional Police, the guards were trying to stop a van that was trying to drive into the infield around 3:30 a.m.

We're told one man jumped out of the van and stabbed the guards.

One guard suffered cuts to his neck and arm.

The other was stabbed in the neck, chest and back. He was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital where he is in stable condition.

At Pocono, when the infield opens up in the early morning, it's a mad dash for folks to find their favorite spots in Turn 1, which is the furthest turn away from the entrance. (And the site of Buster Graham's wall jump.)

The driver of the van and the man who allegedly committed the stabbing are in custody and have been charged.
