Crash in Sprint Unlimited eliminates six cars, including Gordon, Stewart, Edwards and Patrick

The big one struck with a vengeance during the second segment of Saturday's Sprint Unlimited.

Eight cars were involved in a crash in the Daytona International Speedway tri-oval that started when Matt Kenseth ran out of room changing lanes and spun into the inside grass.

Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon, Carl Edwards, Danica Patrick, Kurt Busch, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Kevin Harvick and Joey Logano were also involved, as Kenseth's car initially made contact with Logano's car.

Stewart hit Kenseth, and the two slid up to the outside, where Edwards, Gordon, Busch and Stenhouse crashed. Stewart suffered a broken right leg in an August Sprint car crash and termed it "65 percent" healed on Thursday. Following the accident, he climbed from his car under his own power with no grimacing.

Patrick appeared to make it through the crash and after she got her two left tires into the grass her car looked like it was going to spin around harmlessly. However, after he had run into the back of Busch's car, Stenhouse's car kept going forward and slammed into Patrick as she attempted to correct her machine.

It's just an exhibition race, so we can't imagine this will harm Stenhouse and Patrick's relationship. Though he may want to get a second Valentine's Day present just in case.

On the final lap of the first segment, Jimmie Johnson spun around in the short chute between turn four and the tri-oval. His car hit the wall, flattening the right side. He finished 17th.
