Texas guard throws down monster slam in major summer event

How fitting that a Texas guard would flush home a break out slam dunk at the Reebok Breakout Camp?

Competing at the Philadelphia incarnation of the top prep hoops event, 6-foot-4 Tylon Charles, an athletic guard from Kennedale (Texas) High, elevated over a defender and tossed down a violent putback slam. Making matters more impressive was the urgency with which he executed; his slam just beat the buzzer for the half.

The dunk was posted to YouTube by Home Team Hoops shortly after the Philly event concluded.

How violent was the dunk? It sent the much taller defender who happened to try and cut Charles off reeling off to the right, stunned by the force of the jam.

Thus far, Charles has flown under the larger prep sports radar, a solid if unspectacular prospect who has received some interest from college programs, but not an avalanche.

Heading into his senior season, Charles hopes that will change in a hurry. This slam certainly can’t hurt that cause.
