The year’s first full-court buzzer-beater is a fantastic one from Wisconsin

Ladies and gentlemen, we have our first legitimate crazypants full-court buzzer-beater of the 2012-13 hoops season, and it's just as tremendous as one could hope for.

The video you see above comes from Wisconsin, where Monticello (Wis.) High junior Lucas Marty corralled a missed shot by a guard for what Prep Rally believes to be Highland (Wis.) High. By the time Marty gained control of the ball, he had just enough time to turn, swivel and heave the ball down the court.

Incredibly, the shot went in, even if it was launched more like a discus than a basketball, as noted by SportsGrid.

According to WisSports.net, Monticello went on to win the matchup with Highland by a final score of 48-37. And it was Monticello star Ben May, not Marty, who led the Mustangs in scoring with 18 points.

Regardless, it seems awfully likely that the shot everyone will remember came during a run at the end of a period that carried little consequence rather than during a key first-half run.
