Brett Favre looks set to return to football … as a high school offensive coordinator
Brett Favre is expected to sign a contract that will put him back on a football field within a few days, only this time he won't be wearing a helmet.
As reported by the Biloxi-Gulfport Sun-Herald and Mississippi NBC affiliate WDAM, Favre is expected to be named the new offensive coordinator at Hattiesburg (Miss.) Oak Grove High within days. The move could become official as early as Monday night.
While Oak Grove head football coach Nevil Barr told WDAM that no official decision had been made, Favre's longtime agent, Bus Cook, told the Sun-Herald that Favre was definitely taking a position at the school to "give him something to do."

Barr and Favre are reportedly close friends, and the coach has expressed a great deal of flexibility in potential roles for the legendary quarterback as a way to get him involved in the program.
"Right now nothing is official," Barr told the Sun-Herald. "Brett is on vacation in Colorado, and we will talk on Monday. We will talk on Monday to see how involved he wants to be. We lost our offensive coordinator a few weeks ago.
"We have talked about it, and we will do more talking on Monday. It will be good for the kids. He is still very enthusiastic on the field."
Assuming Favre does accept the position, it will not be the first time the quarterback has been involved with the school's football program. Favre and his family live near the Hattiesburg high school and he has worked out with and thrown passes to Oak Grove players in past seasons while keeping in shape for the upcoming NFL campaigns or trying to regain playing shape.
Now it appears that those passes and workouts will come with a little more structured instruction for teenagers who will surely be thrilled to learn from a legend of the game.
