Dubuisson and McDowell roll over worn out Fowler and Walker

Dubuisson and McDowell roll over worn out Fowler and Walker

Through 54 holes of Ryder Cup match play, Jimmy Walker and Rickie Fowler were even with their European opponents. After playing that much golf with that kind of stress level, they duo was bound for a letdown. That's precisely what happened in their Saturday foursomes match against Victor Dubuisson and Graeme McDowell.

The Americans were visibly tired and played that way, losing four of the first six holes while the Europeans were 3 under par over that stretch. The Europeans won the eighth with a par 4, making the turn 5 up on Fowler and Walker.

The U.S. managed to win just one hole in the match with a birdie at the par-4 11th. It was their second birdie in a row, perhaps spurring some hope of yet another comeback for this duo. However, after a halve in par at the 12th, it was another American bogey that did in the match.

As a team, Fowler and Walker go 0-1-3, leaving points on the table but hardly to blame for the American deficit heading into Sunday.

Meanwhile, Dubuisson and McDowell were relegated to the foursomes format, but the plan worked for European captain Paul McGinley, whose specialist teams in the format didn't lose a match, going 4-0.
