Edinson Volquez, SP, vs. MIN (Gibson), $39: The Royals are the biggest favorites on the Tuesday card, so this sure looks like an overlay. The Twins are just 27th in weighted on-base average against right-handed pitching.

Clayton Kershaw, SP, at LAA (Heaney), $70: It’s a prohibitive price and on the road at that, but we’ll spend some of our Volquez savings here. The Angels offense has fallen apart in the second half - only two teams have scored less.

J.P. Arencibia, C, at DET (Boyd), $11: On the catchers, I’m looking for AJP or JPA. A.J. Pierzynski is two dollars cheaper and has a much better batting slot, but Arencibia is on a binge right now, including Monday’s homer, and has a friendlier matchup.

Prince Fielder, 1B, at SEA (Walker), $11: This was the last position I filled, and I was pleased to find such a big, acceptable name. Fielder’s bat hasn’t been robust in the second half, but maybe he’s starting to see the ball well again - he has seven walks (against just four strikeouts) and a .407 OBP in September. Let’s not sweat the BABIP gods.

Ben Zobrist, 2B, vs. MIN (Gibson), $13: He’s a better hitter against lefties, not that a .790 OPS against righties is a bad number. It’s refreshing to see the Royals finally using a legitimate leadoff man at the front of their lineup.

Mike Aviles, SS, at CHW (Rodon), $8: Here’s the thing with Carlos Rodon - he’s been terrific pitching to Tyler Flowers (2.71 ERA) and horrible chucking it to Geovany Soto (9.12 ERA). What happens with Rob Brantly on Tuesday? Your guess. Aviles gets a spot start, the platoon edge, and a good lineup slot (second), a viable cheap option for us.

Josh Donaldson, 3B, at BOS (Owens), $22: I don’t know how you get away from the AL MVP here. He’s rocking a .347/.419/.733 slash against southpaws, and Henry Owens hasn’t looked ready for prime time.

Scott Van Slyke, OF, at LAA (Heaney), $9: With Kershaw and Donaldson in our lineup, every single-digit buy we can make is appreciated. Van Slyke is slated to bat fifth against a lefty opponent, and he has an .881 OPS in the platoon advantage.

Justin Ruggiano, OF, at LAA (Heaney), $7: Another punt play that’s supported by the price and the platoon advantage. Ruggiano has messy stats this year but he’s still continued to hit lefties, and for his career he slugs .514 against them. He’s set to bat leadoff Tuesday.

Brandon Guyer, OF, at DET (Boyd), $10: Back to the Tampa Bay well for a batter who rocks against lefties. He’s once again slotted leadoff. He still looks like Bill Burr.
