Featherweight champ Jose Aldo out of UFC 176 with injury

UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo is injured and out of his UFC 176 title defense rematch next month against Chad Mendes. Guilherme Cruz reports that "Scarface" got taken down in practice two days ago and suffered a shoulder and cervical spine injury.

According to the report, Aldo began physical therapy yesterday and will not be able to resume training for at least three weeks. At that time, he will udnergo another examination to evaluate his recovery progress.

The UFC has yet to announce a replacement main event for UFC 176, which takes place August 2 in Los Angeles. At present, the UFC 176 card also features bouts between Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza and Gegard Mousasi, as well as the return of lightweight Gray Maynard who takes on Fabricio Camoes.
