Zac Taylor comments on Joe Burrow’s injury comeback

The NFL world was more than happy to see Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow warming up without a sleeve on his injured calf before Friday night’s game.

Naturally, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor got asked about the development after the loss to the Green Bay Packers.

While Taylor wouldn’t move off his “several weeks” comment issued right after Burrow suffered the injury, he didn’t give any sign that there was cause for concern, either.

“Just keep progressing the way that we’re doing with the trainers and strength staff,” Taylor told reporters. “Just keep progressing that way.”

Taylor did respond like this when asked if Burrow being on the field before a game was a sign of progress: “No. I think things are good, and he’s progressing as he should.”

The Bengals have been very quiet about Burrow’s specific return timetable and updates in general, as usual. But Burrow getting out there without a sleeve and going through some very public work seemed to mesh with the rather unconcerned vibe around the organization.

As usual, it feels like a Week 1 return for Burrow is the fair expectation.
