"Raphael has been playing solid tennis to end the regular season," Portsmouth head coach Anthony Sillita said. "A lot about tennis is about matchups and style of play. He has been coming up against some quality opponents these last few matches, however those opponents have a style of play that suits his game well."

Sillita added, "he has done a great job with composure on the court and playing through adversity," he said. "He's one of our unnamed team captains who truly is a great kid on and off the court."

"This is a great recognition for our senior captain," York head coach Kevin Giannino said. "Whether it's a two-out RBI or a tremendous diving catch in the outfield, a game-winning home run or a clutch hit in the biggest moment on the biggest stage, Ella has done it all for York softball. Well deserved."
