Yankees non-tender Albert Abreu, two others

The Yankees entered Friday's non-tender deadline with quite the number of eligible players but decided to not give contracts to three of them.

The team announced Friday night that RHP Albert Abreu, LHP Anthony Misiewicz and RHP Lou Trivino will be free agents.

Abreu is the most notable name of the group as he spent the past four seasons with the Yankees. In that time, the right-hander appeared in 108 games and pitched to a 6-5 record, a .545 ERA and 1.44 WHIP.

Trivino was part of the Frankie Montas deal from Oakland. The righty was solid for the Yanks, appearing in 25 games in 2022 and pitching to a 1.66 ERA and 1.29 WHIP. Unfortunately, Trivino suffered an arm injury in May that ended his season.

Jake Bauers was also eligible for a tendered contract but was traded earlier in the day to the Brewers for two minor league outfielders.

While Abreu, Misiewicz and Trivino were non-tendered, seven eligible players were including some big names. Gleyber Torres, Kyle Higashioka and Clay Holmes were just several players who were tendered a 2024 contract.

Players on each team's 40-man roster who are not under contract and have fewer than six years of major league service time must be tendered a contract each offseason by the non-tender deadline. This includes players who are due raises via arbitration.
