X Games go to Austin

Austin, Texas, was named to replace Los Angeles as one of the host cities for the Global X Games, ESPN announced Wednesday.

Austin was one of four finalists for the X Games, which will be held for four years in the Texas capital city beginning next May. The other contenders were Charlotte, N.C., Chicago and Detroit.

Circuit of the Americas, a sports and entertainment complex that opened last year just outside of Austin, will be the site for the Games. The venue played host to the U.S. Grand Prix, the only Formula One race in the United States, last November.
