Wylie duo wins regional title to earn spot at UIL State Tennis

Wylie's Trevor Short and Hope Willis teamed up to win the mixed doubles championship at the Region I-5A tennis tournament last week in Lubbock.

Short and Willis defeated teammates Brandon Cowling and Kate Delgado in the regional final, 6-1, 6-3.

Also in Class 5A, Cooper's Caleb Bradshaw and Asher Etchison teamed up to win the third place match in boys doubles, but lost a playback match for a state spot to a team from Lubbock Coronado.

In Class 2A, Forsan's Morgan Miller and Hannah Stoll won a regional playback to earn a spot in the state tournament with a 6-3, 6-4 victory against Lily Davis and Ava Garcia from Plains.
