Women'sWorldCup 2023: Where to watch the USWNT vs. Vietnam match Friday

Jul. 20—Returning U.S. players include forwards Megan Rapinoe and Alex Morgan, defender Kelley O'Hara, midfielder Julie Ertz and Connecticut goalkeeper, Alyssa Naeher.

Naeher grew up in Stratford, attended school in Trumbull and later moved with her family to Seymour. The Bridgeport-born player is returning for her third World Cup as the USWNT's starting goalkeeper. Several athletes on the Jamaica, Philippines and Nigeria national teams also have ties to Connecticut.

The 2023 Women's World Cup kicks off today and is scheduled run until Aug. 20.

Here are some Connecticut venues hosting watch parties for Friday's match:

Tigín's Irish Pub will host viewing parties for both the U.S. vs. Vietnam match on Friday and the U.S. vs. The Netherlands match on Wednesday, July 26. Friday's event begins at 9 p.m., but the pub recommends arriving earlier for a good spot.

Primavera Pub in Hartford

Primavera Pub will throw an event on Friday in support of the U.S. and Portugal Women's teams. Tickets are $20 and include food and admission to the viewing party. Doors open at 8 p.m., according to the event description.

World of Beer Bar & Kitchen in West Hartford

World of Beer Bar & Kitchen's West Hartford location will host a viewing party for Friday's match, which kicks off at 9 p.m.

Pratt Street and Vaughan's Public House in Hartford

The Hartford chapter of American Outlaws, an unofficial national organization for U.S. soccer fans, will host a watch party for the U.S. vs. Vietnam match Friday at 9 p.m. Restaurants and bars along Pratt Street will offer food and drink specials, according to the event description. The party will be presented by Pratt Street Historic District and the Hartford Chamber of Commerce.

The Trinity Bar & Restaurant in New Haven

The New Haven chapter of American Outlaws will throw a watch party for Friday's match at The Trinity Bar & Restaurant.

B.J. Ryan's BanC House in Norwalk

B.J. Ryan's BanC House will host 9 p.m. watch parties for both Friday's match and the U.S. vs. The Netherlands match on July 26, Lina Christoffersen, the BanC general manager, said in an email. However, the BanC House does not plan to host parties for other group stage matches due to the time difference, Christoffersen said.

The pub is planning a viewing party for Friday's 9 p.m. match vs. Vietnam, according to its event calendar.
