MADISON – Reserve guard Jordan Davis does not intend to return to Wisconsin for his senior season.

Davis, a graduate of La Crosse Central High School, entered the transfer portal on Thursday.

A message left with Davis was not returned.

Davis started the first 16 games of the season, lost his starting spot to freshman Connor Essegian and then started two more games in place of Max Klesmit (concussion).

He came off the bench for UW’s final 16 games.

Davis averaged 5.1 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. He generally played solid defense but shot just 30.8% from three-point range and 39.9% overall.

UW’s staff has been recruiting players in the transfer portal, including several guards, and Davis likely won’t be the only current player who chooses to depart.

Essegian used Twitter to share a few kind words about Davis.

"Just wanted to put this out here that it’s all love from this side," he wrote. "Brodie took me in as his own and let me sleep on his couch when I first got to campus. Go be great fam."
