Wisconsin hockey bolsters roster with addition of Abbotsford native Tyson Dyck

MADISON – The reinforcements continue to arrive for the Wisconsin men’s hockey team.

Thursday coach Mike Hastings announced the addition of Tyson Dyck, a 6-foot, 170-pound sophomore from Abbotsford who played for Massachusetts last season. Dyck will join forwards Christian Fitzgerald, Simon Tassy and David Silye as incoming transfers for the Badgers.

Dyck arrives with a NHL draft selection on his résumé. He was taken by Ottawa in the seventh round (206th overall) in 2022.

He scored nine points that included five goals for Massachusetts last season. Two of those points came at the Kwik Trip Holiday Face-Off in Milwaukee in a 6-3 first-round loss to Clarkson.

Dyck came to college after a prolific season of junior hockey with the Cranbrook Bucks of the BCHL that ended with a first-team all-star selection. He ranked fourth in the league during the 2021-22 regular season with 75 points (34 goals) and, including playoffs, finished the year with 80 points.
