Reply: I’ll take this as I have permission to veer from stick-to-sports. Haha.

Price Hill Chili.

It’s the best.

Slightly spicy and meatier than most Cincinnati-style chili.

You’ve heard plenty about PHC, and its long history of being the place for politicians to stop while in town. But perhaps you haven’t heard of the best chili dish in town: Chili, goetta and cheddar cheese omelet. Chili inside the omelet and ladled on top. I get feta cheese sprinkled on top, too.

It's my go-to at PHC. You fully taste the Cincinnati. I've convinced Enquirer food guy Keith Pandolfi to go try it. Hopefully, you will, too. You won’t be disappointed.

Credit to former Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Neil for introducing me to this dish many years ago when we met for lunch. I stopped getting the four-way with bean (also good) and have been ordering the omelet ever since.

A few years ago, I started ordering it with feta. Can’t remember how that came about. But I like to think of the feta as a hat-tip to my friend and PHC owner Steve Beltsos and his Greek heritage.

In the early days of the pandemic, I got bored and decided to do a weeklong tour of some of the chili parlors. For six straight days, I ordered carryout for lunch or dinner from a different chili restaurant.

I shared details of the tour on Twitter, back when it was fun. People got into it. After Day 6, I ranked my favorites. These are still my top 3:

1. Price Hill Chili: As a side dish, I’ve also been known to order a bowl of chili with beans and cheese.

2. Skyline: Four-way bean is the go-to. Skyline is ol’ reliable. It’s great for a weekly family meal. Never had a bad meal here.

3. Camp Washington: Three cheese coneys no onion is the go-to. The best coney buns: soft and fresh.

I don’t need a week to celebrate Cincinnati-style chili. I celebrate it every week.
