One last season at the Coliseum may still be a possibility for the Oakland Raiders, at least from the prospective of the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Authority which meets Friday for its monthly meeting. In a closed-door session the Authority will hear an update on where things stand after the city sued the Raiders last month and owner Mark Davis insisted the team would no longer play there in 2019.

Raiders still looking for 2019 home

The city of Oakland followed through on its promise to sue if the Raiders decided to leave, which it is doing for Las Vegas in 2020. The suit was filed Dec. 11, setting into motion the team’s vow to leave early. Despite a preference to play in Oakland in 2019, the Raiders pulled their $7.5 million lease offer.

Since then reports regarding the team’s potential 2019 home have ranged from AT&T Park in San Francisco to across the pond in London. Davis said the team is open to all options except San Antonio, which tried to get the Raiders but lost to Las Vegas. They’ll move to a $1.8 billion, 65,000-seat stadium in Las Vegas in 2020 pending any delays in stadium construction.

Coliseum Authority to hear updates

The Coliseum Authority will meet Friday to discuss options in a closed-door session, according to a report Monday by The Associated Press. The authority finances improvements and manages the complex, which consists of the Coliseum and Oracle Arena.

Authority executive director Scott McKibben will update the board on where things stand between the two sides. The agenda states the Authority will discuss the price and terms of any possible lease negotiation. No team officials will be there, according to the report and reiterated by Davis to ESPN.

Report: Authority, Raiders will meet again

The Raiders will not be at the Friday meeting, but are invited to meet at least one more time with the Authority to figure out if anything can be brokered for 2019.

From The Associated Press:

McKibben said he has been in touch with Raiders president Marc Badain and told him the board is willing to meet after the team has done its due diligence into other sites.

McKibben told The Bay Area News Group there is a chance an agreement can be reached between the sides for 2019, but declined to give any odds on that happening.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said previously he wants the issues resolved by January or February.
