Wild recall two, place Connor Dewar on injured reserve

The Wild on Saturday placed Connor Dewar on injured reserve with a lower-body injury and recalled forward Jake Lucchini and goaltender Jesper Wallstedt from their American Hockey League club in Iowa.

Dewar and goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury were sidelined by injuries during the Wild’s 6-4 victory over the Florida Panthers on Friday in Sunrise, Fla. Minnesota also reassigned rookie defenseman Daemon Hunt back to Iowa.

The Wild finish a three-game road trip with a 4 p.m. puck drop Sunday at Carolina.

Wallstedt, 21, likely will back up Filip Gustavsson against the Hurricanes. In his first callup to the big-league club, Wallstedt made his NHL debut in a 7-2 loss at Dallas on Jan. 10. Gustavsson entered Friday’s game with a 4-1 lead midway through the second period and stopped 21 of 24 shots.

Dewar, who has a career-high seven goals among nine points this season, was injured on a check in the second period. Fleury suffered an upper-body injury after being taken out by Florida’s William Lockwood while trying to corral a puck behind his net. After the game, Wild coach John Hynes told reporters Fleury took himself out of the game. Forward Freddy Gaudreau was withheld from Friday’s game with an upper-body injury.

Lucchini, 28, has no points in four games with the Wild this season, and 11 goals and 22 points with the Iowa Wild.

The Wild have won two of their past three games. They will play three home games starting Tuesday before taking their Jan. 27-Feb. 6 All-Star Game break. Winger Kirill Kaprizov, the team’s points leader with 39 after scoring two power-play goals on Friday, is the Wild’s only all-star.
