Here’s why Red River High hired a baseball coach with loads of experience

When Red River baseball coach Chris Reed recently left the school to coach football at Ringgold, the Bulldog administration acted quickly to find a replacement with loads of experience.

Todd Moore, who has coached baseball at various high schools and with two organizations was named to fill the position.

“Coach Moore is a proven winner as a player and coach,” Red River principal Norman Picou said. “He will not only teach our students about baseball but how to be a successful lifelong learner.”

Most recently, Moore coached with the Prospect Elevation Baseball organization after coaching in the Hurricane Baseball organization from 2019 to 2022. He coached at St. Frederick (2000-03) and at Sterlington (2004-08). He was awarded LSWA Class 2A Coach of the Year honors in 2003 and 2005, along with the 2003 News Star All-Northeast Coach of the Year.

“I look forward to continuing the level of excellence the Red River family strives for in its students,” Moore said.

Moore was the All-District 2-2A Coach of the Year four times and was twice selected to coach the LHSBCA All-Star baseball team. His teams made two quarterfinal LHSAA appearances, three semifinal appearances and two state runner-up finishes during his tenure.

As a player at Oak Grove, he was a two-time state champion before playing collegiately at Louisiana College.

Moore has seen 19 of his former players advance to the collegiate level and four advanced to play professional baseball. Moore and his wife, Candice, have three sons, Jacques, Jaxun and Nolan.
