Why wasn't there a Thursday Night Football game this week? Here's a look

It's the last week of the 2023 regular NFL season, which means this week's game schedule looks a little different.

There was no Thursday Night Football game this week because Thursday night games are only scheduled through Week 17. Amazon Prime Video was the exclusive host of Thursday Night Football games this season for the second year in a row.

The platform broadcast 16 games between Weeks 2 and 17, including the first-ever Black Friday game. The last Thursday Night Football game of the season was Dec. 28 between the Cleveland Browns and New York Jets.

Why wasn't there a Thursday Night Football game this week?

The 2023 Thursday Night Football schedule ran through Week 17. The final broadcast was Dec. 28 between the Cleveland Browns and New York Jets.

The NFL doesn't schedule Thursday night games for the last week of the regular season because there are playoff implications. Playing a Thursday night game in Week 18 could give teams an unfair advantage or disadvantage heading into the post-season.
