White dismissed

AUBURN | Sean White's road from Auburn starter to footnote is complete.

The junior quarterback on Sunday was dismissed from the team 36 hours after being arrested in Auburn for public intoxication, which is a misdemeanor. White missed the first two games of 2017 due to an unspecified violation and served as Jarrett Stidham's understudy during the Tigers' 24-10 victory over Mercer Saturday.

"He has made poor decisions that are not in the best interest of our program, and more importantly, himself," coach Gus Malzahn said in a statement. "We appreciate his time at Auburn and wish him nothing but the best."

White signed with Auburn in 2014 as a four-star prospect out of south Florida. He redshirted in 2014 then burst onto the scene in four games into the 2015 season after Jeremy Johnson's protracted struggles. White started five games before suffering an injury at Arkansas that limited his role until the Birmingham Bowl.

He returned as the starter in 2016 and started 10 games while leading the Southeastern Conference in completion percentage at 63.9. He was knocked out of the Sugar Bowl with a fractured forearm and missed all of spring practice earlier this year while recovering from surgery.

White finishes his Auburn career with a 61.5 percent completion percentage, 2,845 passing yards and 198 rushing yards in 18 games. He accounted for 12 touchdowns.

Stidham and true freshman Malik Willis now represent Auburn's full cadre of scholarship quarterbacks.
