Where UNC football quarterback Drake Maye ranks on PFF’s first NFL draft big board

The college football season is getting started this week with a full slate for Week 1 but it’s never too early to look ahead at the 2024 NFL draft.

Going into this season, North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye is considered one of the top prospects for April’s draft. He’s the No. 2 quarterback on most lists behind only USC’s Caleb Williams. But where does Maye land overall among prospects?

Pro Football Focus released its first big board for the 2024 NFL draft and cracking the top 5 was Maye. The prospect ranked No. 5 overall behind only Williams, No. 2 Marvin Harrison, No. 3 Brock Bowers, and No. 4 Olu Fashanu.

These are just initial rankings, and obviously, they will change as the year goes on.  For Maye, if he wants to climb into that top spot and leapfrog Williams, he’s going to need a monster year.

Still, being in the top 5 is a good thing and there’s a chance that Maye could go No. 2 depending on the team picking there and if they need a quarterback or not.
