Where Titans’ initial 53-man roster ranks in average age
While there figures to be changes between now and the start of the season, the Tennessee Titans set their initial 53-man roster on Tuesday.
For the most part, a lot of yesterday’s transactions were rather predictable, but one of the most shocking developments was the fact that the Titans not only kept their entire draft class, but they also kept a total of five undrafted rookies.
That means that Tennessee is set to have 11 first-year players on the team ahead of Week 1, which is approximately 20 percent of its roster as of right now.
Those players are:
QB Will Levis
RB Tyjae Spears
TE Josh Whyle
OLB Caleb Murphy
LB Otis Reese IV
CB Anthony Kendall
S/LB Matthew Jackson
Despite this latest development, Tennessee still has one of the older rosters in the NFL based on its average age.
According to Spotrac, the Titans currently sport the 12th-oldest 53-man roster, with an average age of 26.43 years old, slightly higher than the NFL average age of 26.28 years old.
For comparison, the Titans’ Week 1 opponent, the New Orleans Saints, enter the year as the oldest team (27.17 years old) while the Packers have the youngest team in the league (25.3 years old).
Tennessee currently has a nice blend of veteran talent that can help it win games right now while also having a lot of young pieces to develop for the future.
