Where PFF ranked Colts’ Jonathan Taylor among RBs

Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor will be looking bounce back in 2023 after an injury-marred campaign while also hoping to retain the title as the best player at his position.

Taylor’s 2022 campaign was highlighted by a nagging ankle injury that required surgery and the incompetence of a Colts offense that gave him no help at all.

It’s part of the reason why he bumped down in Pro Football Focus’ positional rankings entering the 2023 season.

5. JONATHAN TAYLOR, INDIANAPOLIS COLTS

It was a down year for Taylor, as he failed to eclipse the 1,000-yard mark for the first time since his early high school days. But Taylor’s “worst” season still yielded 4.5 yards per carry. He’s also averaged more than 3.0 yards per carry after contact in each of his three NFL seasons.

Taylor, 24, is still an elite running back in the NFL and no one would be surprised if he worked his way back into the top-three with a healthy season in 2023.

Even coming off the ankle injury, Taylor is still one of the most explosive backs in the league, and his ability after first contact continues to be one of the strongest selling points of his game.

We’ll see what happens when Taylor gets back to form with rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson under center, but it will be a crucial one as the former enters a contract year.
