Where Penn State’s Class of 2023 ranks nationally after latest decommitment

Penn State’s Class of 2023 had been on track to finish the recruiting cycle in the top 10, marking the first time in program history during the recruiting analysis era the Nittany Lions have pulled in back-to-back top 10 recruiting classes. That accomplishment appears to be on the edge after Penn State lost a commitment from a four-star recruit this week.

Penn State went down a commitment from its Class of 2023 on Tuesday with the decommittment of defensive lineman Tomarrion Parker. The Alabama native is believed to be exploring some recruiting options within the sEC with Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee among those said to be in the mix after Parker backed away from his commitment to Penn State. It is reported Penn State is not necessarily out of the running entirely, but these types of stories rarely leads  recruit coming back to the commitment.

So where does this latest development leave Penn State’s recruiting ranking now?

According to the team composite rankings produced by 247Sports, Penn State now owns the nation’s No. 10 recruiting class in the Class of 2023. Penn State. The Nittany Lions are down two spots nationally after starting the month ranked No. 8.

LSU and Miami have moved ahead of Penn State with the Tigers now sitting at No. 8 and the Hurricanes up to No. 9.

Penn State also checks in at No. 10 nationally on the On3 team rankings for 2023. Penn State has a lower ranking from Rivals, with the Nittany Lions coming in at No. 12.

Despite the slight decline in the team rankings, Penn State is still lining up a heck of a recruiting class, and they still own the second-best recruiting haul in the Big Ten behind Ohio State. And there is still time for more recruiting news between now and the beginning of the early signing period in December.
