What channel is the Cowboys game tonight? Details to know vs.49ers

The good version of the Dallas Cowboys showed up in Week 4 against New England, setting them up for the first of this season's "game of the year" matchup against San Francisco.

The battle between two of the NFL's best teams and brand names is on prime time Sunday and should push television ratings through the roof. The winner of this game will be the trendy pick for the Super Bowl, though the Philadelphia Eagles might disagree. Dallas' last two seasons have ended at the hands of the 49ers in the playoffs.

Here is what to look for in Week 5.

Dallas Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence (90) tackles San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel (19) during the first quarter of a NFC divisional round game at Levi's Stadium.

The 6:20 p.m. kickoff will be on NBC.

Where are the Cowboys?

Dallas will travel to the San Francisco Bay Area (Santa Clara, actually, which is closer to San Jose than San Francisco) to take on the 49ers Sunday.

How is Dallas supposed to do?

For the first time this season the Cowboys are an underdog, not surprising given that San Francisco is one of the league's two unbeatens (Philadelphia is the other). The spread is four points, which is one more than San Francisco is assigned for home field.

With an over-under of of 45, San Francisco is expected to win along the lines of 24-20.

The key for Dallas will be to get its offensive red-zone issues fixed, a fact that at times has been somewhat overshadowed by the defense's propensity to score points. The Dallas defense probably can't count on San Francisco to turn the ball over a bunch, so it will have to find other ways to make stops.

Who has more Super Bowls?

They are tied with five Super Bowl titles but it's been a while for both teams. Dallas last won one in the 1995 season when Barry Switzer was running the show and the Cowboys haven't been back to the big game since. The 49ers last won it all in the 1994 season, though they did manage to lose the Super Bowl in the 2019 and 2012 seasons.

What are the other games to watch this week?

Other than Dallas-San Francisco, this isn't a week of particularly attractive matchups. The most notable early Sunday game is Pittsburgh at Buffalo, which will be on CBS. The Kansas City Taylor Swifts take on Minnesota in an afternoon game on CBS and that will be where Tony Romo is.

The Monday night game features the Las Vegas Raiders hosting Aaron Jones and the Green Bay Packers.

Who do I take in my loser/winner pool?

The biggest favorite of the week is the Miami Dolphins taking on the 11-point underdog New York Giants, who suddenly look dreadful. The second biggest favorite, and it's been a while since this has been said, is the Detroit Lions at home over the winless Carolina Panthers.
