What were Sam Howell’s 3 most improbable throws from Week 1?
Washington Commanders quarterback Sam Howell didn’t have the cleanest performance in Week 1. However, when his team needed him the most, Howell responded, scoring the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Howell completed 19 of 31 passes in Week 1 for 202 yards. He had a touchdown, an interception and a rushing touchdown. He also turned the ball over twice. In addition to the interception, which was tipped, but he did force the throw, there was Howell’s fumble that led to Arizona’s only touchdown.
Right tackle Andrew Wylie was beaten soundly on the play, and as Howell attempted to scramble away from trouble, didn’t protect the football, fumbling near the goal line, leading to a walk-in touchdown for the Cardinals.
While that was a costly play, one thing Washington coaches love about Howell is his ability to shake off negative plays and respond positively. He did that again on Sunday.

That’s a difficult throw from Howell, going across his body for the touchdown pass, and he made a perfect throw.
