San Elizario RB Zamar Vargas is the El Paso Times' Jarritos High School Athlete of the Week
San Elizario High School running back Zamar Vargas is this week's El Paso Times' Jarritos High School Athlete of the Week.
Vargas garnered 93,452 of the 193,484 votes cast. Vargas rushed for 232 yards and scored five touchdowns against Cathedral last Friday.
The top four vote getters are as follows:
Zamar Vargas, RB, San Elizario with 93,452 votes or 48.3 percent.
Jose Carlos Herrera, QB, Cathedral, 82,241 votes or 42.51 percent.
Daveon Singleton, Athlete, Chapin, 9.243 votes or 4.78 percent.
Colin Ivey, RB, Clint, 4,189 votes or 4.78 percent.
The El Paso Times will be honoring high school athletes this year on a weekly basis that you, the readers, help determine. We will be taking weekly nominations and will release a list of finalists for the Jarritos High School Athlete of the Week at 2 p.m. each Tuesday.
Students in all varsity sports are eligible to be nominated. The poll will close at 2 p.m. Thursday and the winners will be announced Friday each week.
Nominations are due by 5 p.m. Monday and can be submitted through email at fchavez@elpasotimes.com, by contacting Felix Chavez through text or on social media on X (formerly Twitter).
