Team of the Week
Patterson Mill girls basketball
The Huskies have been on a roll the past month and a half, building an 11-game winning streak. The latest two victories in that stretch last week were a 44-26 win over Harford Tech and an impressive 55-38 win over Rising Sun on Thursday. The Tigers were the last team to beat the Huskies back in the middle of December, but since then they have been untouchable. Also included in that winning streak was a 43-36 win over fellow UCBAC front-runner Fallston during a weather-abbreviated week two weeks ago.
5-star players
Chris Nice, Bel Air, wrestling: Nice, last season's Aegis Wrestler of the Year, reached a career milestone when he picked up his 100th career win last Monday. The milestone is even more impressive because of his pandemic-affected freshman season.
Caroline Nicholson, North Harford, girls basketball: Nicholson had one of the best individual games any player in Harford County has had this season last Monday against Bohemia Manor. Nicholson earned a triple-double with 20 points, 10 rebounds and 11 steals. She also handed out five assists in the game.
Jordan Lawson, North Harford, girls wrestling: At the weekend's Patterson Mill Husky Open, Lawson ripped through the girls 170-pound weight class, winning four matches, all by first-round pin. Her finals pin over Katelyn Johnson of Eastern Tech, came in just 52 seconds.
Rylie Madsen, Patterson Mill, girls basketball: Madsen has been a valuable piece of the Huskies' hot streak. She was dominant inside Thursday against Rising Sun with 20 points, 18 rebounds and three blocked shots. She added 12 points in Monday's win over Harford Tech.
Logan Weaver, Bel Air, boys indoor track and field: Weaver, one of the top cross country runners from the fall, is still kicking during indoor track season. Weaver won the 1,600 and 3,200 meter runs at Friday's Last Chance Invitational at CCBC-Essex.
