Week 8 Inactives: Mostert, Moss active; Jerome Ford a game-time decision

Fantasy Football Live’s Andy Behrens and Matt Harmon react to the latest injury news before Sunday’s Week 8 games kick off

Video Transcript

ANDY BEHRENS: It is week 8. That kind of snuck up on us. I am Andy Behrens. He is Matt Harmon, and we're going to take a look at a few of the key actives and inactives heading into Sunday's slate. You see the early window there in front of you.

I think the biggest name, probably Raheem Mostert, he's going to go. He's been dealing with an ankle issue. But obviously, if you can start a Dolphins running back, you got to do it. In the late games, things get pretty interesting.

We've got Jerome Ford is a game-time decision. We've got Tyler Lockett expected to play, but he's a little bit banged up. Brock Purdy coming off one of those 3-day concussions, perhaps the shortest concussion in recent NFL history. Josh Palmer questionable for the evening game and that's a tough one. Matt, what jumps out to you there?

MATT HARMON: Yeah, I'll talk with Seahawks offense here. Nothing gets you going, nothing gets the juices flowing, Andy, more than a really complicated late-game window actives and inactives type of situation. That is how we are right squarely in week 8. We're in the thick of the fantasy season.

And for Tyler Lockett, yeah, he's expected to play. I really go back and forth on how I feel about the Seahawks offense in any given week. Sometimes I think, hey, you know what? They're performing really well in between the 20's.

This offense looks efficient. They're moving the ball extremely well. It kind of, sort of, looks like the unit that we expected it to be. Then they get down inside the red zone and things don't go so well.

I can't quite decide if I'm like, I don't know if I should yada yada red zone concerns, right? It's like, oh yeah, but they're a great offense, they just don't score any touchdowns. That does feel like kind of a critical point here.

So in a tough match-up this week going against a Browns defense that's been extremely locked down, for the most part, they obviously let the Colts kind of good get over on them last week. I feel like the Seahawks offense could actually kind of replicate that plan. They have receivers who can beat man coverage. The Browns play a lot of man coverage.

Geno, this year, hasn't been great throwing against man coverage, but he was one of the best and most efficient last year. So this is a tough match-up for all of these Seahawks guys. If you have somebody that sort of is on the radar, on that debate threshold with Tyler Lockett, maybe I'd move away from him. But man, I mean, I do feel like the get right spot is coming at any point.

ANDY BEHRENS: Yeah, I'll stick in the same game and mention Jerome Ford, who we thought was going to miss a game, maybe two games, with an ankle sprain. We didn't quite know if this was like the lowest high ankle sprain or the highest low ankle sprain, right? There was a little bit of ambiguity there.

But now it seems like he's going to be able to go, or at least going to give it a try. He'll be a game-time decision here. Ford has, obviously, been a great player, a success story on the season so far.

He's a yards after contact guy. He's been great. He's had some big breakaways. This is a difficult match-up against Seattle's defense.

They've been very good against the run, only giving up 3.5 yards per attempt against them. So it is a tough spot. I would probably look to pivot away. And of course, if Ford can't go, then that opens the door for Pierre Strong, who looked pretty good last week, and of course, it means that Kareem Hunt is going to see all the work that he can handle.

Again, in a difficult match-up in what might be a low scoring game. So I don't have a lot of enthusiasm for any of these Browns running backs, but you know where to pivot, it's probably Pierre Strong if Ford can't go. All right, here's hoping that you can navigate all of this nonsense. Let's go get a win in week 8, people.
