Week 3 Cape Cod high school football scores and highlights

Week 3 of the high school football season is upon us and there are some intriguing matchups this week. Six Cape teams play on Friday and six more on Saturday.

The action begins Friday night with undefeated Monomoy traveling to take on Martha's Vineyard at 6 p.m. The Sharks have started the season strong, and have one of the most exciting offenses in the area. Other Cape teams in action Friday night include 1-1 Sandwich, which hosts Abignton at 6 p.m, and Upper Cape taking on South Shore. Barnstable travels to Bridgewater-Raynham in search of its first win, and Mashpee takes on McCann to round out Friday's action.

Saturday begins with St John Paul II hosting Carver at noon. Bourne and Cape Tech are set to battle it out at 1 p.m. Dennis-Yarmouth hosts Stoneham, Nantucket travels to West Bridgewater, and fresh off their first win in over a year, Nauset hosts North Middlesex at 3 p.m. to round out the action.

Friday, September 23

Abington 21, Sandwich 7: The Blue Knights fall to 1-2.

Martha's Vineyard 21, Monomoy 0: The Vineyarders (1-2) pick up their first win while handing the Sharks (2-1) their first loss.

South Shore Tech 6, Upper Cape 0: The Rams drop to 0-3. Noah Demoranville ran for 71 yards while Keno Glenn added 63. Vincent Hume (34 yards) and Davonte Green (19) also chipped in on the ground game.

Bridgewater-Raynham 26, Barnstable 10: The Red Hawks drop to 0-3 on the season after losing to Bridgewater-Raynham.

Mashpee 36, McCann 8: Sophomore Ben Squarcia scored two touchdowns, and had an interception for the Falcons, who improved to 3-0. Aidan Cuozzo also scored twice, and Chase Weinstein accounted for the other Mashpee touchdown.

Saturday, Sept 24

Carver 43, Saint John Paul 0: The Lions (1-1) came off their bye week and lose their first game of the season.

Cape Tech 28, Bourne 21: Cameron McCormack and Peyton Morris each scored two touchdowns for the Crusaders (1-2) for their first win of the season. Bourne drops to 1-2.

Stoneham 46, at Dennis-Yarmouth 12: Jayden Barber threw two touchdowns to Wyatt Stevens, but it was not enough as the Dolphins (1-2) fell to the Spartans (3-0).

West Bridgewater 43, Nantucket 8: Griffin Fox ran for a 57-yard TD on a double handoff in the loss for the Whalers (0-3). He added the 2-point conversion on a run up the middle.

Nauset 32, North Middlesex 21: After going winless last season, the Warriors (2-1) have now won two in a row.
