Wednesday's Top Prep Performers: Ventura beats rival Buena in boys basketball

Highlights from Wednesday in high school sports:

BOYS BASKETBALL

  • Parsa Kamali finished with 18 points and five assists, Caleb Sebek had nine points and six rebounds, Finn Fancher had nine points and five rebounds, Travis Valenzuela had seven points, nine rebounds and took four charges in the second half, and Tristan Phillips added six points and six rebounds to lead Ventura (6-11, 5-1) to a 56-49 victory over rival Buena in a Channel League game. Luke Ortiz scored a game-high 21 points and Josh Ullegue had 15 points for the Bulldogs (8-11, 2-4).

  • Nathaniel Gomez finished with 28 points, five rebounds, five assists and five steals, Marcos Ramirez had 18 points, seven assists, five steals and three assists, David Giron scored 11 points, and Luke Cameron added eight points to lead first-place Oxnard (16-4, 6-0) to a 68-48 victory over Dos Pueblos in a Channel League game.

  • Jackson Knowles scored 17 points and Rohan Stankey had 12 points to lead Rio Mesa (6-11, 2-4) to a 54-50 victory over Pacifica in a Channel League game. Isaiah Dillon finished with 21 points, five assists and four steals, Richard Miranda had 10 points and three rebounds, and Adan Covarrubias had nine points and five rebounds for the Tritons (7-12, 0-6).

  • Troy McGovern scored 23 points, Stevie Prudholme had 15 points, Nick Giarrusso finished with 11 points and six assists, and Stevie Amar had 10 points and seven rebounds to lead Oaks Christian (12-8, 2-0) to a 66-59 win over Thousand Oaks in a key Marmonte League showdown. Elias Chin had 31 points, six rebounds and three assists, Trent MacLean finished with 14 points and five rebounds, and Luke Koren scored 13 points for the Lancers (15-5, 1-1).

  • Kayden Elsokary finished with 29 points, eight rebounds and three assists, Austin Maziasz had 16 points and 12 rebounds, Dante Deshautelle contributed 10 points, four rebounds and three assists, and Aidan Delavari added six points, nine rebounds and four assists to lead Westlake (16-4, 2-0) to a 75-47 win over Calabasas in a Marmonte League game. Tidiane Sy scored 13 points and Bryce Dameworth had 11 points for the Coyotes (13-6, 0-2).

  • Mathis Simonet and Elai Segev each scored 16 points and DJ Jacob had 12 points to lead Agoura (8-11, 1-1) to a 57-73 overtime victory over Newbury Park in a Marmonte League game. Miles Montero scored 16 points, Alex Depatie had 14 points and Blake Jones added eight points for the Panthers (12-8, 0-2).

  • Levi Oakes had 21 points, six rebounds and four assists, Tyson Howarth had 13 points and seven rebounds, and JJ Ward and Drake Howarth each scored 11 points as Moorpark (8-12) improved to 3-0 in the Coastal Canyon League with a 68-52 victory over Royal. Ace Arnold scored 20 points, Gavin Wright had 10 points and Parker Hill added seven points for the Highlanders (17-5, 0-2).

  • Vedant Agnihotri scored 20 points, Ryder Mjoen had 18 points, and Tyler Earnest had six points and nine assists to lead Simi Valley (13-9, 2-1) to a 64-53 win over Camarillo in a Coastal Canyon League game. Tyler Hook and Ty Chisholm each scored 12 points, Spencer Clausen had 11 points, and Evan Dela Paz added eight points for the Scorpions (11-9, 0-2).

  • Donald Clark IV hit three 3-pointers and finished with 22 points, Dylan Benner scored 13 points and Jaden Whitehead had 12 points to lead St. Bonaventure (14-7, 2-0) to an 89-49 win over Bishop Diego in a Tri-Valley League game.

  • JD Pettit had 12 points, seven rebounds and two assists, Julian Espinoza had 10 points, three assists and three steals, Lucas Mendez had nine points, three rebounds and two steals, and Mark Perez Jr. scored eight points for Santa Clara (7-10, 0-1) in its 72-42 loss to Dunn in a Tri-Valley League game.

  • Nick Drucker scored a game-high 24 points and Ashton Brown had 17 points as Foothill Tech (9-10, 1-0) opened Frontier League play with a 49-44 win over Thacher.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

  • Kierabella Coletta-Todd poured in 31 points and had 12 rebounds and three steals, Skylar Komatsu finished with 15 points, nine rebounds, five steals and two assists, and Kimiko Carmer added seven points, four assists, three steals, three blocks and three rebounds as Newbury Park (19-1, 2-0) pushed its winning streak to 19 straight games with a 59-14 win over Agoura in a Marmonte League game.

  • Mathis Dritz finished with 22 points, 12 rebounds, three blocks and two steals, Taylor Swanson had 12 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and two blocks, Emma Ange contributed eight points, 11 rebounds, two assists and two steals, and Payton Stern added six points and seven rebounds to lead Westlake (8-6, 2-0) to a 55-52 victory over Calabasas in a Marmonte League game. Maddy Tauro scored 15 points and Lia Hendelman had 12 points for the Coyotes (6-10, 1-1).

  • Amanda Wang scored 11 points, Jaelah Brown had 10 points and Mila-Nai Colon Yau added seven points to lead Thousand Oaks (8-11, 1-1) to a 41-28 win over Oaks Christian in a Marmonte League game. Bonita Liu scored 11 points and Presley Kushner had six points for the Lions (5-13, 0-2).

  • Emerson Martin scored 17 points, Daniela Rocha had 12 points, Christa Contreras and Addison Moody each had eight points, and Elizabeth Rocha added seven points to lead Camarillo (13-5, 2-0) to a 60-29 victory over Simi Valley (5-12, 1-1) in a Coastal Canyon League game,

  • Moorpark (8-6, 1-2) secured a 59-15 win over Royal (2-17, 0-2) in a Coastal Canyon League game.

  • Aryanna Lopez finished with 25 points, four assists and four steals, Alyssa Garcia had 16 points, four rebounds and three steals, and Madilyn Stonebraker had six points, 11 rebounds and three blocks to lead Santa Paula (12-8, 5-0) to a 66-6 win over Hueneme in a Citrus Coast League game.

BOYS SOCCER

  • Kevin Zendejas scored a goal off an assist from Kenner Aguilar for Agoura (5-3-1, 1-0-1) and Jaden Griffin scored a goal from an assist from Julian Speth for Newbury Park (6-6-1, 1-0-1) as the teams played to a 1-1 draw in a Marmonte League match.

  • Mikey Houghtaling, Jack Steinberg and Uziel Diaz scored goals to lead Thousand Oaks (6-2-1, 1-0-1) to a 3-2 victory over Oaks Christian (2-6-0, 0-2) in a Marmonte League match.

  • Calabasas (5-0-2, 1-0-1) earned a 1-0 victory over Westlake (7-3-1, 0-2) in a Marmonte League match.

  • Benjamin Aguilar scored two goals, Damian Renteria had a goal and Daniel Garcia, Adrian Padilla and Leo Mateos had assists to lead Channel Islands (9-2-1, 4-1) to a 4-1 victory over Malibu in a Citrus Coast League match.

  • Jared Ramos converted on a penalty kick for Fillmore (4-5-5, 2-2-1) in its 3-1 loss to Carpinteria in a Citrus Coast League match.

  • Camarillo (6-7-1, 1-1) earned a 5-1 victory over Simi Valley (3-11-1, 0-3) in a Coastal Canyon League match.

  • Royal (8-7-2, 1-1) posted a 3-0 victory over Moorpark (8-7-2, 2-1) in a Coastal Canyon League match.

GIRLS SOCCER

  • KK Chowana scored two goals, Emma Naftzger and Calista Banihashemi had goals, Tahirih Vahdat finished with two assists, and Sam Bateman had an assist to lead Westlake (8-0-1, 2-0) to a 4-0 victory over Calabasas in a Marmonte League match.

  • Scarlette Druian finished with two goals and an assist, Avery Oder and Alyssa Assouad scored goals, and Lauren Gatien had an assist to lead Oaks Christian (7-2-2, 2-0) to a 4-1 win over Thousand Oaks (6-1-1, 1-1) in a Marmonte League match.

  • Liv Ivie scored the goal for Agoura (1-6-1, 0-1-1) in its 1-1 draw with Newbury Park in a Marmonte League match. Sienna Meyer scored the goal for the Panthers (5-3-1, 0-1-1).

  • Mackenzie Gwin finished with three goals and three assists, Aleiyah Schexnayder had two goals and an assist, Jessie Shepherd had a goal, Sienna Cuéllar and Alina Miller had assists, and Jessica Heybl and Makenna Gout combined for the shutout in net to lead Camarillo (3-4-1, 1-1) to a 6-0 victory over Simi Valley (8-4-0, 0-3) in a Coastal Canyon league match.

  • Gianna Foss scored two goals, Payton Fraser had a goal, and Ella Navarrete and Zaina Barakat had assists to lead Moorpark (5-4-1, 3-0) to a 3-2 victory over Royal (4-9-1, 0-2) in a Coastal Canyon League match.

  • Marlene Gonzalez finished with two goals and an assist, Karissa Terrazas scored two goals, Lizbeth Mendez had a goal, Athena Sanchez had two assists, and Gabriela Martinez and Alorah Salas combined for the shutout in net to lead Fillmore (5-2-0, 3-1) to a 5-0 win over Carpinteria in a Citrus Coast League match.

BOYS WRESTLING

  • Matt Hernandez, Daniel Godinez, John Kuske, Keiden Swenseid, Miguel Moreno all won by pin to lead Rio Mesa to a 39-33 victory over Pacifica in a Channel league match.

GIRLS WRESTLING

  • Kaylee Hernandez, Sakala Ale, Alysia Clayton, Aileen Ayala, Briceida Trejo and Samaya Bazile earned pins to lead Pacifica to a 48-18 win over Rio Mesa in a Channel League match.
