Wednesday injury report: Jags rest RB James Robinson after ankle injury

The Jacksonville Jaguars’ injury report only had three players on it Wednesday. Those players were running back James Robinson (ankle), receiver Collin Johnson (hamstring), and cornerback Sidney Jones IV (Achilles), all of whom sat out of practice.

Jones’ injury is one he’s been dealing with for multiple weeks, causing him to miss three games prior to Week 14’s game against the Tennessee Titans and the Jags’ game against the Baltimore Ravens this past Sunday. With him out of the lineup, the Jags started Greg Maybin and Tre Herndon this past Sunday and could go the same route again if necessary.

Johnson and Robinson sustained their injuries Sunday against the Ravens. Johnson’s injury occurred in the first half of the game and he exited it as a result and didn’t return. With the injury occurring days ago and keeping him sidelined, his situation will be worth watching heading into Sunday as the Jags may have to bring a player off their practice squad to fill his spot.

Robinson sustained his injury in the fourth quarter and didn’t return. However, Doug Marrone told the media beforehand that the team would hold him out and added that Robinson wants to play Sunday.

“What we’re going to do is we’re going to rest him I think, be cautious with him, but obviously he’s already said he wants to play and feels like he will play,” Marrone said Wednesday.

Robinson is the Jags’ most consistent weapon, so obviously it would be an uphill battle to take on the Bears without him. However, he’s putting together a historic season and was snubbed from the Pro Bowl, so his willingness to play and toughness aren’t shocking.
